L’Encyclopédie du Cinéma

(Bordas - 1967)

An encyclopedia about which it had been said that it was subjective, warm, (even) passionate. It is certainly true but most of all is the need to keep it close.
Roger Boussinot was a writer, critic, film historian and French director (1921-2001).

Son of Charles Boussinot (teacher, anarchist, syndicalist and member of the movement Freinet), he studied philosophy in Bordeaux and Paris.
Journalist at Liberation, expert for cinema, he collaborated with the French magazine “L’Écran français” - where he became the editor from March 1950 on, he wrote also for the journal “Action et Arts”.

"L’encyclopédie du cinéma" constitutes 2 volumes of references about cinema :
3500 Articles of the Volume 1 relate to the names of directors, producers, writers, actors, composers, etc. - to film titles, but also to the words designating the technical and cinematographic industry, major trends and film schools.

Roger Boussinot "gives us to read" the cinema, according to his own expression, and the spirit of the encyclopedia is willingly subjective, warm and even passionate ;
The Volume 2 is the sum of essential photographic illustrations issued of the most interesting movies according to Roger Boussinot.

Roger Boussinot nous « donne à lire » le cinéma, selon sa propre expression, et l'esprit de son encyclopédie est volontiers subjectif, chaleureux, voire passionnel ;

shotnlust.com is a visual collection of Art stories:
Photo, Cinema, ShortArt.s, Dance

At the beginning it was the idea of building a small arts library. Then, little by little, the commitment to share it.
Choice, preference, ignorance, evidence, all assumed.
A desire to discover, an encouragement to remember. Sometimes.
